Hi,
I just got a Canon Data Memory Back 90 and have been playing around with it on my T90 before putting any film in the camera, in case I have to open the back or something. I have a few questions about how the unit operates:
1. The aperture for the shot is only registered if the lens is in the “A” setting. If I am taking shots in Manual Mode, the shutter speed is registered but not the aperture. The back does show the “M” symbol when in manual mode. In a way I can see how this would be as the shutter speed is very easy to transmit to the back, while the aperture is still a mechanical link and not so easy to transmit unless in shutter priority mode when the camera selects the aperture and therefore it is easy to transmit to the back). Basically what I want to know is if this is correct behavior.
2. The back only remembers the information of the last shot taken. When I follow the procedure to see previous shots, I get nothing. The “INFO” counter on the LCD screen never decreases always staying at 156. Is this because no film is loaded?
3. Even for the information on the last shot, the only data is the one in the first screen; as I scroll to the sequence of screens, I see no data stored (not even data and time of the shot). Again, is this because no film is loaded?
4. The manual says that I can store up to 8 pieces of lens information in the DMB. What lens data can I store? Can this only be done with the computer interface? Can I change the lenses in the DMB with the interface? (This is just for informational purposes because I cannot find the interface anyway, and have you seen the price for MSX computers?)
Thank you for any help,
claudio
