Questions about Ilford's new RC paper

First off, I can't find a tech sheet for the new RC paper on the Ilford website, anytime I click on a link that looks promising I get a 404.

Second, does this new paper have a developer incorporated emulsion or will it respond to different developers like FB papers do?

Some RC papers are "developer incorporated". I think that is what gives them their speed.

MG IV did not have any. The easy way to test version V is to put a strip of the paper in a bath of basic water (ie not neutral or acid) (a solution of Na Carbonate would do).
Watch it under full room light. If it turns dark then there is developer in the emulsion. You could test it side by side with strip of the older version of this paper.

Alternatively you could always ask Ilford. It is quick to reply in my experience

I don't believe there are any developer incorporated papers still being manufactured.
There are ph adjusting components in the emulsions - in trace quantities - that fine tune the speed and contrast.
Most papers will "print out" a little bit, and those trace components can affect that. A test that involves observing paper in room light is more a test of its printing out capabilities than a test of whether it has developer incorporated.

That's good to hear! Personally, I don't use RC papers, but my students go through a lot of it.

Fomaspeed does and I think some of the Arista’s do to. Look at the data sheet if the developing times start at 30 seconds it will have developer incorporated. Usually the sheet will say as well but not always I’ve notice.

I asked about developer incorporated because it didn’t seem to matter what developer the just replaced Ilford RC paper was developed in, it always looked the same.

I develop in a deep Nova slot so can't see the start of my print but certainly Ilford RC data seems to strongly suggest that development in terms of image starts by 30 seconds or sooner. In fact at only slightly higher temps that 20C the print may be fully developed at 45 secs if I recall Ilford specs. However most RC papers seem to have similar developing times so do most if not all RC papers have incorporated developers on this basis?

I seem to recall in a thread a few years ago that PE claimed that Ilford RC(MGIV) had incorporated developers and that in reply Simon Galley said Ilford RC didn't have such incorporated developers. If I further recall correctly the thread in question developed into a discussion of whether PE's definition of incorporated developer met with Simon Galley's, so on that basis both could be right and there was no need to get to the "who's the liar" stage

I could suggest that those interested in such information simply contact Ilford and ask the question but unless someone volunteers to do that we could of course have more fun by endlessly debating it without answer from the "owner of the paper".

So here's a promise:If someone doesn't volunteer on this thread to ask the question of Ilford after say 3 more days I will do so in the hope of getting an unequivocal answer or at least a qualified answer should that be necessary for an accurate answer.

This answer from llford need not stop the fun of debate for those who enjoy such debates but may give an answer to those who desire accurate information and stop further doubt and possibly wearisome frustration on their part.

I’ve developed MGIV RC in dektol and MULTIGRADE developer and the image starts appearing at about the 15 second mark with it most of the way there at the 45 second mark with full development at the 90-120 second mark (depending on developer). I’d expect that the new paper would behave similarly.

Well Kentmere VC Select has developer incorporated in the emulsion.

The bottom paragraph of the first page has this information.

I have been using this paper since it became available in this country, it is very different to Ilford papers.

Yes imo it's much faster (it requires about 40% less exposure time) and it's more contrasted than Ilford RC.
