Hi all,

I bought a second-hand Durst L1200 with CLS 450 head some time ago, but only now am getting around to setting it up in my darkroom. I have a few questions:

1. Does anyone have operating instructions for the CLS or the CNA they are willing to share?

2. The head plugs into a Rayco timer-stabiliser via a rectangular 12-pin plug. Is the Rayco a necessary part of the equation? Can the head plug into something else, such as:

3. The Durst CNA 450, which I also have? This has an output at the back labelled Output 1000W - what plugs into that?

4. When I plug the head into the Rayco and turn it on, the fan starts - great. However when I switch all the other switches, the bulb doesn't turn on. I have determined the bulb is not faulty - where do I go from here. Should I test everything with a multimeter to see whats going on?

Many thanks as always for your help

I (did ?) have instructions for the L1200 system - Lost a lot of data after a hard disk failure and am still in the process of recovering from it.

Not familiar with the CNA450, but I do have the Rayco timer/stabiliser (and a spare Durst PSU) that I use with my CLS450. The first thing to check would be the fuses, then lamp holder and then to see if you are getting 24V across the two pins. If no voltage is present, then you'd need to check the voltages inside the stabiliser - A word of warning: Some of the pins on that large 12 pin plug/socket are 240V (from memory) for the fan.

If you were local to me, I might be able to offer physical assistance.

Hey Paul,

thanks for the reply - I've determined the fault is with the fuse in the Rayco, or more specifically the fuse housing. I have to physically push the fuse in to make everything work, but it doesn't stay 'pushed in'.

I'm west London - how about you?

The fuse holder is a fairly simple item to replace (assuming you have a soldering iron) - Maplin should be able to supply one.

I'm over in Norfolk, near Norwich.
