I've done it and it is exactly the same as the 400 film on one roll and the 800 film on another.... true the 400 film will not look as good as the 800, but it will work. Me, I shoot TriX 400 @ 800 all the time and in fact just returned from a trip out West to Monument Valley, Upper Antelope and other fine points and did the whole thing with some TriX 320 @ 800 (220) and it will all be done in Diafine and I expect the usual excellent results! So we'll see.... results to follow.

What you say makes sense, and I'd be interested to know if it works for you. To get any meaningful data from the experiment, you'd need a densitometer to measure negative densities against a known reference. Lacking one of these devices, I'm not terribly inclined to try it myself. I'd waste a lot of film and Diafine experimenting with a process that would be difficult to quantify, and I'm very happy with the way it works as is.

I have a densitometer, but at the moment I have neither the Diafine developer nor the time to do the experiments. I would be interested in trying it some day after life settles down a little, if it ever does.
