Question on Hasselblad CW winder

Hey all,

I got a CW winder for my 503CW today, but upon receiving(and attaching w/ fresh batteries), the winder after sitting for a while(turned on, or off) it doesn't want to wind the film after turning on (going to "S" from "L")

I've read online before posting this about some of the early CW winders having an issue with not winding properly, mine's S/N is:

432ER3299

I'm assuming the "ER" refers to a 1998 date code, signifying an earlier one according to my online snooping...

Anyone have any ideas, was this a free fix from Hasselblad?

thanks

Dan

Try remounting it... also as I recall it used 5 bateries... check and double check polarity, as just one misplaced with cause issues.
Corrosion? Look for it... possibly for a leak long ago?

If you don't have a manual, I would guess the Hasselblad web site has a PDF.

I've found that if I disengage it a little bit, then re-lock it, it kinda "wakes up", and winds to the next frame. Definitely not what I want/need it to do, and a total inconvenience unfortunately

Polarity is all correct, there seems to be a slight bit of potential corrosion on some of the contacts, but some electronics contact cleaner helped that issue

I'll give Hasselblad a call tomorrow, after David Odess, he's been very helpful before, hopefully he can shed some light on this situation.

the person I bought it from said I could return it if I wasn't happy. But if I'm going to have to shell out more dough to get it repaired, I'll just return it. I don't "need" the winder, I've always wanted to try one, and this one came at a nice price for my budget.
