question for Yashica Mat 124 G users

Well, I tried to write in French, but actually I found that some photo terms are unknown to me in this language... I can understand the parallax error possible with TLRs (cut-off foreheads, that's usually the trouble). Are your negatives sharp, after all? Different scale in a finder and on the negative should mean different focal lengths of the twin lenses, and it can't be done simple! And of course different length lenses in TLR setup won't give sharp pictures together. So the problem seems to be quite strange...

hello from France and sorry for my english, I'll try to explain well as possible the answer I need.

I have find something bad on my Yashica, the picture I get on my screen and the one in my negativ are very different. Ok it's there's two lens in different position but when I do a portrait, my picture on the negativ is too larger, in the height (I understand why) and in the width.

Do you have the same results or it's my Yashica who doesn't work well ?

the lens are the same : Yashinon 80mm, for the view 2,8 and the film 3,5
The negatives are nice, very sharp, there's no other problem.
Yes the image in my viewfinder is smaller than the one on the film.
The focussing screen seems to be the first, not change...
So You don't have the same error on your Yashica Mat, just the parallax in the height ?

Maybe you're talking about the viewfinder coverage of the Yashica. I've read something about that on this thread on Photo.net:
"Exposed negative size: 56.1mm tall by 56.9mm wide, width of exposed negative outside viewfinder field of view at 3.2m: 4.5mm top, 4.1mm left side (photographer's left, facing subject), 4.1mm right side, 2.1mm bottom. This is about 86% coverage left to right, 88% coverage top to bottom, 76% of total area. The view finder's field of view at 3.2m is 203cm tall x 198cm wide."

I have dismantle all my Yashica to verify all pieces, every pieces seems to be ok. I'll clean mirror and lenses and remove it like a new and sell it to buy a rolleiflex.

I've never had any problems with my Yashica. The image on the negative always comes out the way its shown on my viewfiner. The photos are crazily sharp and I love this camera!

Yes I'm ok with the Lens who are sharp but some Yashica Mat 124 G seems to be wrong like the one I have. Too difficult to take photo when thinking the photo will be very different than the image you see in viewfiner.

I don't know if this helps, but if you take a portrait with a TLR at 1 to 1.5 metres and place the camera the same height as the subject's head, the fact that the camera's taking lens is several cm lower will mean that you get distortion of the subject's head (in particular, an unnaturally big chin). Is this the effect you are getting? If so, make a conscious effort to position the camera 15 to 20 cm higher.

reading this thread made me wonder if there was a close up adapter or "other" lens attached to the taking lens (the bottom) lens. There were some wide-angle, telephoto adapters that were sold that could be causing this problem. It should be obvious it is there where a close up filter might not show up as much. Just a thought.

Why don't you simply crop? I mean, if you get on negative more than you see on viewfinder, simply crop when make print. Problem would be if you see something on viewfinder, but not get that on negative.
