My question is for those who own a rangefinder with an 85 viewfinder. It might be available on other cameras but for the most part its on some of the Leica M6TTL, M7 or current MP models.
Since stores don't seem to stock these, it's impossible to look through the viewfinder unless a friend has one, and none of mine do.
With the 85 viewfinder, how large is the frame-line for the 50mm lens? In comparison to a 72 viewfinder, is the 50mm on the 85 similar/larger/smaller than the 35mm would be on a camera that had the regular 72 viewfinder?
Or, if you have the 85 viewfinder and a 58 viewfinder, how does the 50mm on the 85 compare to the 35mm on the 58 viewfinder?
I realize you need two bodies to compare with and most people don't have two, but if you do, its greatly appreciated. Thanks.
For my personal use I find the 35mm framelines on the 58 viewfinder to be perfect in size. And since the camera doesn't have the framelines for the 135mm, the 35mm lines are the only ones showing, which I love.

Not sure what you mean by 85 viewfinder....horizontal measure, diagonal measure?
  • A 24mm FL on 135 format is a Angle of View diagonally of 84 degrees.
  • A 50mm FL on 135 format is a Angle of View diagonally of 46.8 degrees.
