Question about stand developing concentrations

I've been reading about stand development and have decided to give it a shot before heading to Colorado on a family vacation. I've been reading various tutorials on the technique and about the various concentration formulas people use and have a question that may seem simple but I wasn't sure of the answer.

When talking about the concentration of developer used, most folks agree on a 1:100 to 1:150 dilution of Rodinal being a good starting point. Some people talk about it in terms of the amount of developer needed per roll of negatives, however, so I'm a little confused. If using 4ml of Rodinal per 120 roll of negatives, does that mean I simply put 4ml of Rodinal directly from the bottle into 400ml of water and use that concentration to develop the negatives? Or do I dilute the Rodinal to 1:100 before putting 4ml of the diluted solution into the necessary water to cover the negatives? It seems the former is more likely to be the case but I was a little fuzzy on the point, so thought I'd ask around.

Any other pointers I need to be aware of when using stand (or semi-stand) developing? I'm curious to see what the results will be when testing the latitude I get with exposures so I can use a "dead reckoning" style of metering (sunny 16, but modified based on years of photography experience).

Use box ISO or datasheet for D76 which ever is lowest.
If you semi stand expect more apparent grain.
If you are using 400 ISO film you will get acceptably large grain with stand anyway.

On the topic of grain with stand developing: how does T-MAX compare to Ilford FP4+ on apparent grain? The sample images I've seen so far from Ilford users indicate sometimes very apparent (and sometimes distracting) grain when using stand developing. Is that because of the Rodinal? Theoretically, T-MAX should produce less apparent grain but I'm not sure how that works out in practice. The samples I've seen of Ilford 120 film show a tonality that I think would fit my style better. I'm just concerned about grain becoming overpowering if using stand developing.

I also saw someone post that they were stand developing with a combination of Xtol and Rodinal. Not sure that's necessary but it's an interesting idea to try and get the best qualities from both developers.

I've stand developed T-Max 100 (120) in Rodinal 1+100 for 1 hour with pretty good results, seems like I lost a little bit of sharpness though.
