Hello

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem with QTR.
I have been using QTR off and on for a little while but all of a sudden the QTR dialogue box isn't appearing for me. When I select Quad3800 in the print dialogue box, the option does not appear under 'PAGES' for QTR.
I have re-installed the newest version of QTR as well as the newest driver for my Epson 3800. I am running CS4 (which I installed a few months back but I have used with QTR since).
In system preferences: under Print and Fax, the Quad3800 appears in the printer list on the left; however, the 'Location' shows 'USB Printer' and the 'Kind' is blank.
I can't understand why the operating system can no longer find QTR when I want to print out of PS?
I have sent an email to Roy Harrington of QTR and awaiting response.

thanks for your help,
david

I think you need to be a lot more explicit. Are you on a Mac or PC? What OS are you using? Are you trying to print directly from Photoshop or from QTR?

I'm using a Mac OS10.5.8
I'm trying to print from PS, I just can't get the QRT print dialogue box to open;it's not appearing in the scroll down menu in the second print box. Quad3800 is appearing as an option in both Print boxes though.

Did you post this question in the QTR Yahoo forum? If not then you might ask there.

Perhaps one of our Mac-centric QTR users will chime in.

I don't have QTR but it must be some type of a plugin. Perhaps when you reinstalled it it didn't install where it should have. Have you checked to see if is in the PS plugins ? Or where the previous version was. Also when I went to CS4 Adobe had made some changes that required downloading and installing a Twain function. Things don't seem to become any easier!

It's a program or rather a set of modules, not a plug-in. I have it but not the right printer to use it with yet. But it's RIP software that controls your printer driver.

You open it as a program with windows.

I have Photoshop CS3 and CS5 so my printer dialog boxes may not be the same as yours.

But here are things to check.

First, look in your QuadTone Tip folder to make sure you have a .txt file there that corresponds to your profile.
Quadtone RIP >Profiles>Name of Printer

Second, look in the printer library to make sure there is a quadtone file for your profile.
Library>Printers>quadtone>Name of profile

In the Printer dialog box, first choose Printer = Quad3800 (or your printer)
Presets should be the Name of the QuadProfile you want to use.

Then go to Layout and select QuadTone Rip. Once you do you should see a screen with all of your printer settings.

Navigation is a bit different in CS5 but takes you to the same place eventually.

Thanks for all your suggestions.
I ended up re-installing QTR 2.7 again and it's now working. I didn't use the uninstall program as it's apparently only for earlier versions of QTR but the manual does explain what needs to be manually deleted. However, I mistakingly did use the uninstall program the first time (which may have caused the problem). Also, I may have not had the printer on when I re-installed QTR the first time; having it on is essential.
I'm still not sure what caused the original problem but it's now working!! Yippeee!
