Pyrocat-HD: replacement for Phenidone?

I'm planning to test Pyrocat-HD for the first time soon. However, the problems with the solubility of Phenidone makes me think. I successfully use R.Suzukis DS-10 and aquired some Dimezone-S for this. Since Dimezone-S seems interchangeable with Phenidone and is easily soluble in water, it would be a smart move to replace the Phenidone in Pyrocat-HD with Dimezone-S.

Has someone experience with this?

Isn't Dimezone-S similar to phenidone? If so, you could try it out.... or just use metol.

Hi Martin,

i usually dissolve the chemicals for Pyrocat-HD at room temperature which in the past was even below 20°C and easily got everything into solution without excessive stirring. I see little reason to worry here. My Phenidon is from Suvatlar (CG Chemie).

Martin, since I have about 300 grams of Phenidone, and Phenidone is quite soluble in alcohol and in Propylene Glycol, I have no incentive to try Dimezone-S.

If I tried a Dimezone-S substitution for Phenidone, I would still use Propylene Glycol as my "A" solution solvent/preservative. I would not use water.
