Pyrocat HD & HP5 undeveloped white spots on negative

I've had the exact same issue and ONLY WITH HP5. This is with TF4 an ammonium thiosulfate fixer. I think Ian is correct and it's the acidic stop creating bubbles in the emulsion. Best to try it out with just a water stop bath.

The negatives I got out were actually kind of charming

Hi - I never use stop bath with negatives, only water. Alkaline fixer in round two which made no difference.

That is why I kept my TMY from the problem batches - perfect for testing.
Naturally, almost none of the test rolls have since shown any problems.

To me it almost looks like dust on the film when it was exposed. What kind of camera did you use? Might be worth vacuuming out the interior and trying another roll?

Hi - dust would not have such uniform circular and oval patterns. The film came from three different Hasselblad backs and the same batch of film from the same backs shot a few days earlier and developed in XTol were fine. I also shoot large format so familiar with what dust on film looks like. Shame on me if I let that much dust live in my camera!
