I was wondering how to push hp5 in rodinal 1:200? i use it 2 hours for anything, but when i meant to pull a tmax film exposed +2 stops for 1.5 hours and the negs were thin. i seems exp doesent matter all that much with stand.

My question is would i need to lenghen te exp time to 3.5 h or dev as normal(2 hours)

I find that about 1 hour at 1:200 is good with most films exposed at box speed. At two hours in the sauce, I've gotten some fogging that I didn't like so I keep it around an hour and all is good. I'm no expert, but I think you might get better control with 'pushed' or 'pulled' film by using standard development times rather than stand development. If you keep it in the can for three hours, you're likely to get some fogging but still thin negatives.

No, in for 2 hours is a perfecty developed neg for my taste. Which are you using the new stuff or old? im using old becore afga stopped production

Marko,

Rodinal is not the best tool to do push development.

If you're not seeing the fog, you are either getting lucky and right on the edge, or you're not looking hard enough. Most anything after the 1 hour mark seems to produce fog according to my research.
As Argus said, pushing with Rodinal is not really ideal. It can be done as long as you are looking for that look. I actually wanted sharp, rough looking grain on some 6x7 negs I took a couple weeks ago - I souped it in Rodinal 1+25 for 8 minutes (shot at 800) with standard agitation. Well, with negs that big, I think I should have gone to a faster film if I wanted real grain, but they are deadly sharp.
You should do a search on stand developing here on APUG - there is a tonne of info. I think once you look into the reasons why stand developing works and how it does what it does, you will see that its not really very handy for altering the level of development with any degree of precision. Again, its a tool for a job, not a magic bullet.

Peter.
