Can anyone tell me how pushable Efke Pl 100 is? I have been developing it at it's rated speed in Rodinal 1:25 with acceptable results, but haven't played with it beyond that.

By the way, what it the deal with the notch codes being the same between efke pl 100 and efke pl 25, and maco ir?

Anyway, thanks for your input

Pete

I can only answer the "BTW": It's not a notch code. It's an upper-right emulsion-side-up notch. That's all.

But in my experience the EFKE films hold their rated speed, and using a speed-increasing developer will easily lift it a stop or two. Beutler's, or its commercial cousin Neofin, works very well with these films giving smooth tones and full speed.

All of these were done with Efke PL100 4x5" rated at EI 200 in Acufine (Linhof Tech V, Symmar 210 convertible, Norman 200C with plain 5" reflector, most at f:8, 1/15 sec., handheld)--

Pete, I seem to remember a member here who had run Efke 100 at 400 by mistake. His results were pretty good, but don't remember which developer was involved. My recollection of this recollection is unclear now. Perhaps he will read this and answer your question. tim

Pete,

Ole is correct. The Efke 100 will easily push 1 or 2 stops with a speed increasing developer. Rodinal probably isn't a good choice for this. He is also correct about the notch codes. They are just for film orientation. Regarding the Maco IR film the reason is that Efke is the manufacturer of this film.
