Hello,

i bought a rolleiflex gx, he works fine but, its to dark too focus for me!
Which mattglass do i have to choose? beattie or maxwell?
And do i have to adjust the focussysteem again?

thanks,

best regards,

degrande jelle

The GX should have a modern bright screen, one of the best, so I doubt a Beattie or Maxwell could be much better. If your GX has the original screen, that is. Very fine grained, fresnel, split image and micro prisms.

What is the condition of the mirror? I don't know anything about the Rolleiflex gx, but I have had some first surface mirrors of the same relative age as this camera that have deteriorated to the point of greatly reducing the amount of light they reflect (in astronomy equipment).

Not likely. The Rolleiflex 2,8 GX was made between 1987-2002, and I have never heard of one with a mirror in bad shape.

Rolleis before the mid 50's had the silver protected with a lacquer coating, but after that they had a harder coating of some sort, so they seldom deterioate. The GX has a semi-transparent aluminium coated mirror, protected with SiO2, I think, so they are very durable.
