I know many APUGgers have published portfolios of photographs, so your experience and advice is much appreciated. Once the photos for a portfolio are selected, is a portfolio normally hand-printed by the photographer? Or by a commercial publisher? What is the format? Printed reproductions? Mounted images? Unmounted, but signed images?

Also, once it's done, how is it marketed? Just through ads in photo magazines such as "B&W?" Or through galleries? And what is the normal production run?

Sorry to ask so much, but I'm thinking that portfolios would be an "ideal" way to market photographs and much easier to get out to market than a published book. But, it may be too expensive to be practical without a big name behind it. Any thoughts and suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks again!)
