And, of course, you have an article in Shutterbug (February edition). I enjoyed your review on that camera--it was fun to read.

Sadly, nothing from Frances this month, but then we've already talked about that.

This week my first book came out. I didn't write it, but 200 of my photos illustrate it. It's called "Jessica McClintock's Simply Romantic Decorating"

Congratulations Rory, well done!

I have some publications in scientific journals but perhaps more of interest on this site is this:

http://tinyurl.com/2caqjb

It is a link to a PDF file.

Oh, as mentioned in this article, I contributed 4 articles to Encyclopedia of twentieth-century photography (3 volumes set).

I've had photos published in local newspapers, New England Home mag each month, and images used in company brochures and business websites. ...but no books in the horizon...

I have four published books:

Landscapes 1975-1979 (Winner of Le Grand Prix du Livre--best photography book of the year--at the 1981 Festival in Arles, France.) Introduction by James Enyeart, then Director of the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, Arizona.

Michael A. Smith: A Visual Journey--Photographs from Twenty-Five Years. This book was published on the occasion of my 25-year retrospective exhibition at the George Eastman House in 1992. Foreword by Marianne Fulton, then Curator of Photography at GEH, and essay by John Bratnober.

The Students of Deep Springs College. Portraits of the entire student body at the most unusual college in America. Published in 2000. With a preface by myself, an essay about the history and philosophy of the college by L. Jackson Newell, the president of Deep Springs. Writing by each of the 25 students, and an afterword by the well-known writer William Vollmann.

Tuscany: Wandering the Back Roads, Vol. II—8x20" photographs from three years photographing in Tuscany. Published in 2004. Volume I contains Paula Chamlee's 8x10" photographs. Introduction by Robert Sobieszek, late, and sorely missed, photography curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Foreword by Ferenc Maté, author of "The Hills of Tuscany."

I just had 8 pictures and an article about me published in Issue 53 of B&W Magazine. I made a post here, on my blog when the issue came out last month.

Photos published (no articles) in various text books, sometimes many in a single publication. For these assignments I was given 1-3 days to produce images of specific subjects. The pay was extraordinarily high, therefore, I rarely turned down an assignment - I was usually contacted when other photographers failed to produce what was needed by the book designer and the situation always commanded a higher than usual pay rate.

Also, industrial photos for a large engineering corporation (annual reports) and hundreds of product photos for a small manufacturing company.

I should note that the demand is for all digital imaging now for this kind of work.

My Book

"Working in the USA". My photographic book documenting the people of America and the work they do. I spent 3.5 years traveling the country fulltime. The book came out two years ago and from that I have been on CNN and written up in many newspapers and magazines. You can find it via my website at http://www.workingintheusa.com

A book entitled, "Monasticism in Egypt: Images and Words of the Desert Father," published by the American University in Cairo and distributed in the US by Columbia University Press.

Otherwise, numerous publications in the US and abroad, but nothing too major. Current book project underway is on "Celtic Monasticism."

Philadelphia Inquire on November 27!

It is not that my photographs will be in the newspaper, but article about me and Project Basho will be published in the paper tomorrow as it stands now.

Philadelphia Inquire

I met a reporter and a photographer from the paper two weeks ago. I am not sure what is going to be written, but it would be interesting to read what she has to say about starting a small photography center in the city.

Let me know what you think of the article when you read it.

Warmly,
Tsuyoshi

That was a wonderful article. I regret moving from the Philly area now since I would love to attend some of your workshops.

The article is out already!

Warmly,
Tsuyoshi

I agree, that is a wonderful article.

Thank you Tsuyoshi, for all that you are doing. I didn't realize how much you are doing.

If the article is accurate, I guess we should ask you to pass on our thanks to your mother too.
