If I use a consistent ratio of Pt/Pd for coating, is it possible to premix the Pt and Pd together so coating only requires measuring out equal amounts of FeOx and premixed Pt/Pd? Just wondering if the metals would stay in solution and remain stable over time, it would be an expensive experiment if it failed...

Thanks for any insight,
Denny

Yes. In fact, you can go ahead and mix in the FeOx for a printing session. Make up only what you will use for that session.

I generally mix enough emulsion for a printing session as mentioned by Kerik. I suspect the pt/pd less the FeOx would be okay. To be sure contact Bostick & Sullivan. They are helpful with questions especially since selling the chemistry is part of their business.

Well, i just got off the phone with Dana, and he advised against it. He suggested that the Pt is likely to precipitate out over time. Bummer.

I have a small bottle of pd/pt mixed 4:1 that's been on the shelf for at least 3 or 4 years. I just emptied it into another container and there is zero precipitate.

Kerik, that's great news. I'm going to try it myself.
