What is the proper process to "Fix Out" photo paper.

I have some fiber based and RC photo paper that I want to try for my final support in Carbon printing.

I know I have to FIX OUT this paper before I can use it. Do I have to do this fixing in complete darkness (no safe lights allowed) or what?

Thanks

You can fix it in the light since you are not going to develop it. I fix with a non-hardening fix, such as Ilford Rapid. I have heard that a non-hardening fixer is recommended. A hardening fixer may prevent good transfers.
