Recently I bought a beautiful old Houghton Triple Victo camera.
It seems like it has been locked away in a dusty attic for a long time, so I started by cleaning most of that off with a soft-bristled brush and dry cloth.
However, further cleaning is needed and I was wondering what would be the best way to properly clean the brass elements and the wooden parts without risking to damage these materials. I wouldn't for example want to cause the wood to warp or anything like that. Concerning the brass: these elements don't seem to have actually oxidised, though some zinc loss can be seen as well as normal superficial dirt. Would it be advised to, after cleaning, apply a protective layer over it to prevent further degradation?
Which materials should you advise to use for this?
