Promo "Zones"

Because we all seem to have sub forums we visit aside from APUG, I suggest we divide up the "Territory" into zones. I don't want it to be obvious with us all bombing the same sites. I also think that I should be the first to post in these sites, even if I don't frequent them. That way you guys won't catch any of the crap that might arise.

And like John said in one of the newsletters, I'm really not trying to "scam" anyone into this. I want to provide a really good event for all of these people and do a small part in keeping photography out there. The more, the merrier. I also know how to market things pretty well though and if we do this in a subtle manner, it could take on a really good word of mouth... "viral" in newspeak.

Can you guys name sites and provide me with links for the places you go? I think that would be a good start. I am working on material to run by you guys and once we have that down and the site ready to take registration fees, I'm starting.

Thanks

I read and post to LFF
and Yahoo groups HikingHounds. I don't suppose HH will help any,
but the girls (yellow labs) and I are having a ball, about 8-10 miles a week.

I read RFF but haven't joined to be able to post.

The forum for the Midwest Large Format Asylum is: http://www.deepthought.com/smf/
Most of the active members are around Chicago, Milwaukee, Indiana, and sourthern Michigan. I've mentioned Bill's gathering to the group on several occasions and members were very interested. I think they would appreciate an official invite.

Best,

JD has pretty much listed sites I am a part of, so, what I've listed are, in the case of Flickr, groups within Flickr that I subscribe to and are either in the Great Lakes area or are involved in an activity we may have a workshop for, like Polaroid transfers (possibly).

http://www.flickr.com/groups/krappy/ (Ann Arbor Area Crappy Camera Club, with the main core members being a very photographically knowledgeable analog-minded group.)

http://www.flickr.com/groups/exposuredetroit/

http://www.flickr.com/groups/annarbor/

http://www.flickr.com/groups/creamcitymilwaukee/ (I joined this group because I grew up here. Pretty deep, huh?)

http://www.flickr.com/groups/lakesuperior/

http://www.flickr.com/groups/polaroid_transfers/

http://www.flickr.com/groups/71912909@N00/ (Another Polaroid Transfer group.)

Dead Link Removed (Ann Arbor Camera Club - A pretty good mix of talent and interests here. Howard Bond is still an active member. I was prez of this group for two years from '98 to '00, fwiw.)

Dead Link Removed (Livingston County Photographers Group - I founded this group in '03 and left in '07 due to a lack of interest in actual photography. They wanted to talk about software and megapixels and getting them away from their computers to go out and shoot was more difficult than pulling teeth. There are a couple of 'quiet ones' who may be interested. I don't know. I'm on the fence with this group.)

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MiPHS/ You all know Cindy.

http://www.brightonartguild.com/ (I'll be joining this group soon. There are some exceptional photographers involved here but there is no forum. Putting something on their newsletter could be a possibility.)

That's all I know for now.
