Hi everyone,
We have started working on the shooting trip idea that we have had for a long time. Japan is our first destination. If everything goes as planned, the trip will take place in September '08 for about 2 weeks.
Since we would like our trip to be about exploring lesser known areas to find interesting subjects, we will be going to the country-side of Japan rather than to large cities like Tokyo or Osaka.
We are planning to go to Kanazawa City where they have preserved old architecture from 200 years ago. It is a relatively small city with a mixture of history and scenes with local daily activities like the very busy fishing market.
From there, we will take a trip to the Noto Peninsula to visit even smaller towns and villages along the Japan Sea. These are small fishing villages where they still maintain slower lives and a lot of beautiful scenery. Also September is the season for local harvest festivals. We will definitely plan our trip to coincide with these events.
There will be a lot of shooting opportunities for street photographers as well as landscape/scenery photographers in this trip. Plus the food is superb especially the seafood.
Again these are rather remote locations and harder to get to if you are not from there. But being Japanese, I will be taking care of all the logistical matters from transportation to lodging.
This is a shooting trip, not a workshop. We are facilitating the excursion to provide an opportunity for those who are interested to travel, photograph, and explore another culture. There will be a lot of time to get to know other photographers from different parts of country/world who share the same interest and have a great time taking pictures of events, local lives, and sceneries in the Japanese country-side.
Our trip is still in the planning stages, but feel free to contact us if you are interested in this occasion. We will keep you up to date.
Warmly,
Tsuyoshi
