Yes, we did it!
Last month we announced the results our 2010 goal of registering 365 students throughout the year as well as the lucky winners of our Dead Link Removed. One lucky student won a free class or workshop for themselves and a friend and several others won autographed photo books & Basho gear. The wonderful growth we experienced last year is a testament to the vibrancy of the photographic culture that surrounds Project Basho. We want to take this opportunity thank all of the students, members, volunteers, and visitors that are an integral part of our organization. We also welcome your feedback and suggestions for ways we can serve our community even better. You can share your learning experience with others through Google or Yelp, or simply get in touch with us directly if you are interested in offerings our program does not currently cover.
ONWARD '11 Web Gallery Has Launched!
The entire set of images selected for the ONWARD '11 exhibition can now be viewed online via our web gallery! In our efforts to increase exposure of talented artists in the early stages of their careers we have also partnered with Dead Link Removed, a monthly online photography publication that brings together diverse contemporary photography from around the world. Editor David Bram teamed up with Flak Photo's Andy Adams to choose 25 of the images from exhibition and their selections can be found at Dead Link Removed.
We have had literally hundreds visitors come to see the show since it opened in mid-February, including John Vettese' who has written an interesting take on some of the works in a Dead Link Removed. To see the works for yourself, visit our web gallery or stop by in person. The exhibition will be up in our gallery through Sunday, March 27.
Project Basho Heads To Ireland
This weekend is your last chance to register for our incredible destination trip to County Wexford, Ireland! Organized in collaboration with Cow House Studios, this shooting trip is a unique opportunity to use photography as lens through which to experience the stunning natural beauty and rich cultural history of this country.
Based from a 200-year-old family-run farm in the countryside of Southeast Ireland, participants will take day trips to castles, celtic ruins, small towns, and the beautiful coastline. Back at Cow House Studios, travelers will then process their images, share work in group critiques, participate in workshops, and reflect on the days work over home-cooked meals. On a side-trip to Dublin, students will also have a chance to visit many museums and galleries and explore the bustling energy of Ireland's capital city.
Redesigned Tote Bags Have Arrived
Our newly redesigned tote bag just arrived from the manufacturers and will be hitting the streets in time for spring. The updated design features sturdier ballistic nylon handles and a custom-fitted interior pocket designed to keep your iPad or eBook reader from mingling with your groceries. Pick up your own at our studio for $17.50.
