Winter/Spring Schedule Announced!

It is hard to believe we are almost at year's end, but we are very excited as this means a brand new semester of photography classes and workshops is approaching. Our Winter/Spring '11 schedule has just been published with a diverse selection of courses in the upcoming year. In addition to our mainstay classes like introductory Photographic Vision courses, we have invited many new instructors and are introducing several limited enrollment workshops. These smaller intensive courses will provide an intimate educational environment and guarantee ample one-on-one instruction.

Among our new instructors is Francesco Nonino, an exceptional printer from Italy who will be teaching Vision to Print, a unique workshop which will present a comprehensive analog workflow for photographers working with black & white film. This workshop will present exposure, film processing, and printing as integral parts of one cohesive creative process. It is perfect for analog photographers seeking greater control and understanding of their materials and techniques.

Noted photographer Dead Link Removed will teach an enlivening workshop entitled Direction and Inspiration. This workshop–for artists working on developing a portfolio or a concentrated project–will help participants focus their vision, opening them to new sources of creative inspiration. Connor will push students to consider their work in new ways by understanding their images both in a historical context and simultaneously as a unique expression of themselves.

Other newly developed workshops include Susan Hayre Thelwell's Self-Publishing Your Photobook, Jean Miele's Photoshop & Lightroom Magic, and Arlene Collin's Mastering Flash Photography. For a complete listing of next semester's offerings, please visit our classes and workshops page. Feel free to contact us with any questions or to register.

Last Chance to Enter ONWARD '11

As you may have heard, the ONWARD '11 submission deadline has been extended to November 30th at 11:59 PM. That leaves less than a week to get your photographs submitted via the online form.

If you have not had a chance to keep up with all the news happening with ONWARD, we recently announced that a selection of images from the exhibition will travel to Ricoh's photo gallery Ring Cube in May and the two winners as well as guest juror Larry Fink will receive a sponsored invitation to attend the opening reception! On top of the other prizes, the two winners will also receive a camera from Ricoh.

Additionally, the West Collection has agreed to a purchase award in conjunction with the ONWARD exhibition. They will purchase a piece of their choosing to enter their extraordinary collection. This is all big news and we are very excited to be able to offer so many opportunities for exposure to this year's selected photographers.

Best of luck and happy submitting!
