New Services and New Navigation
As we are growing rapidly and are on track to exceed 300 students by the end of the year, we are excited to introduce a couple of new services to our education program. Starting immediately, we are offering private lessons and customized workshops for many of subjects we cover in our regular classes and workshops.
Both private lessons and customized workshops are ideal options for students looking for a focused learning experience in an individual or small group setting. Whether you have a group of friends who want to learn the same subject matter or would like to learn on your own, you will have the advantage of working closely with your instructor to tailor the class to your needs and interests and will be able to move at your own pace.
If you are interested in these new services, please contact us via phone or simply fill out a registration form to let us know what you are interested in. Our staff will contact you quickly to organize a flexible and empowering learning experience with one of our knowledgeable instructors. We are also happy to announce that a 10% discount on private lessons will be applied to current Supporter and Patron Friends of Project Basho.
Also, to accommodate our ever-growing educational services, we have made a few changes to our website to facilitate easy navigation and provide coherent information to site visitors. You can now navigate our entire program of educational offerings via a series of tabs to quickly change views. We hope this will enable a better navigation experience on our website.
Summer Schedule and Pre-registration Starting
We are working on our summer schedule and are expanding the scope and number of our workshops to accommodate the desires of photographers in the Philadelphia area. As always, we are looking to bring new, exciting, and experienced instructors to the studio. We are currently coordinating with Dead Link Removed, Hiroshi Hayakawa, and Ginger Owen to name a few. We hope to finalize and publish the new schedule in a couple of weeks.
In the meantime, we are taking pre-registration for Photographic Vision I and Photographic Vision Digital I, our most popular classes. In these 11-week introductory courses, students will focus on the fundamentals of photography including understanding your camera, taking photographs, printing, as well as critiquing photographs in a structured manner. Students are also invited to attend extra sessions like visiting the study room at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, a New York City gallery excursion, and a shooting trip.
The prices and structure of the classes remain the same from this semester and descriptions can be found on our website. The dates for the summer semester are:
Photographic Vision I
Day Class: May 25 - Aug 10
Evening Class: May 24 - Aug 16
Photographic Vision Digital I
Day Class: May 25 - Aug 10
Evening Class: May 24 - Aug 16
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact us by phone or fill out our registration form to secure your spot in a class. Our staff will walk you through a simple registration process and you will be able to look forward to an informative and structured learning experience this summer.
New Computer Room Around the Corner
If you have been to our space recently, you may have noticed the din of drills and hammers. We have been working on a 400 sq. ft room behind our gallery space. We have already finished plastering and after a couple of weeks of cabinetry and final touches, this space will soon become a dedicated computer room equipped with 10 iMacs and three 17"-wide inkjet printers. We hope the new computer room will improve your learning experience in our digital photography and printing classes and workshops, as well as the viewing experience in our gallery.
We will have a open studio when we complete the space next month. Come check it out once it opens!
Last Chance To See ONWARD '10
If you have yet to see ONWARD '10, this week is your last chance! On Sunday, March 28th, ONWARD '10, the exhibition of Project Basho's annual photography competition will close. See what Moore College of Art & Design professor Jonathan Wallis had to say about the show Dead Link Removed.
As the year goes on, be sure to check back to the ONWARD blog for monthly updates about past ONWARD participant's exhibit openings, book releases, and other news.
