Announcing Fall Classes and Workshops
Our Fall '10 schedule of classes and workshops was published a couple of weeks ago and we are looking forward to a truly exciting semester. As our education program grows, we continue to bring talented instructors from near and far to teach weekend workshops in a variety of topics.
For those of you that are interested in learning new photographic processes, the upcoming semester has a lot to choose from including workshops on large format photography, wet plate collodion, tri-color gum bichromate, polymer gravure, and carbon printing.
We also have a variety of shooting and critique-based classes aimed developing artistic vision and considering new aesthetic approaches to your work. Recent Guggenheim Fellow Shelby Lee Adams will be returning to Project Basho this November to teach a weekend workshop on Environmental Portraiture. The two day session will combine technical issues like creating fill lighting with more open-ended issues like establishing a positive collaborative relationship between photographer and subject.
We also continue to offer our popular series of photography classes that range from one-day tutorials to semester-long courses like Photographic Vision I and Photographic Vision Digital I. In these introductory classes, students become familiar with operating manual cameras and creating fine silver and inkjet prints while also being introduced to photography as a new way of seeing. Students will be pushed to become more observant of their surroundings and to pay close attention to lighting, perspective, and elements of design and composition.

Introducing Early Registration Discount
As we get ready for the upcoming semester, we are happy to introduce a $25 early registration discount to all students that sign up for a fall semester class by the end of August. To be eligible, we must receive your complete registration and payment in full by Tuesday, August 31. This discount cannot be combined with any other offers.

Summer Rolls On
Though we are looking forward to fall, our summer semester is still far from over. We have a number of interesting workshops scheduled over the next few weeks including an introduction to Palladium Printing from Digital Cameras as well as Dead Link Removed's Beyond Literal which presents photography as a imaginative outlet to express an inner world of dreams and emotions rather than a tool for the documentation of the outer world. Instructor Dead Link Removed is also teaching two art theory courses, Photographic Composition and Creative Color for Digital Photographers, a weekend workshop focusing on color theory and digital workflow.
Last Chance to See Friends of Project Basho 2010
If you have not had a chance to see Friends of Project Basho 2010, the show will be up one more week. The Friends of Project Basho show is an annual exhibition that highlights the work of the dedicated community of artists that is actively engaged in photographic practices at our studio. This year's exhibition features work by our students, instructors, members, volunteers, and staff. The show is composed of a diverse range of styles and viewpoints and reflects the dynamic dialogue that Project Basho is always after.
The show is up through July 30. Feel free to stop by during regular gallery hours (Sun-Fri, Noon-10pm) and have a look for yourself.
