-Fall Class/Workshop Schedule Announced-
We have finalized the fall schedule for photography classes and workshops, and it is available online now. We are adding new and exciting classes and workshops to our ever-growing list of photography opportunities in this area.
Starting in September, we are inviting Dead Link Removed to offer Photographic Vision Color Digital. Rick has been teaching Photoshop for Photographers I and Photoshop for Photographers II with us since the beginning of this year. Also, we will offer after-school classes for teenagers in both analog and digital photography this semester.
With much excitement, we are inviting Debbie Fleming Caffery for Documentary Portraiture. This workshop will be a great opportunity to learn how to infuse your personal vision into your work and how to develop your editing skills.
We are also excited to offer Fine Inkjet Printing by Amadou Diallo from NY. Amadou is the author of "Mastering Digital B&W", one of the most comprehensive books on B&W digital photography. He will cover both color and B&W printing with an Epson 3800 during this workshop. Also, we are bringing H. Eugene Foster for Adobe Lightroom for Beginners and Michael Mutansky for Real World Scanning again this semester as well.
As for historical processes, we are bringing Takashi Arai, who this past winter ran a very well-received daguerreotype demonstration for Contemporary Daguerreotype in November. This workshop will introduce you to the contemporary approach to creating one of the most beautiful photographic processes. Also in November, France Scully-Osterman, one of the masters of historical processes, will lead the Advanced Wet-plate Collodion workshop. The details of the workshop will follow shortly.
Last but not least, Tsuyoshi Ito will be leading Exploring the Marshland, a five-day intensive shooting workshop to explore South Jersey. During this workshop, students will immerse themselves in photography and the nature rich environment day and night and expand their creative possibilities.
Our classes and workshops are small, and registration is on a first come first serve basis. Registration is available online or simply call us at 215-238-0928. To secure your seat, start signing up soon.
We are always adding new offerings in both digital and analog photography to our already comprehensive list of classes and workshops. We believe in developing diverse and comprehensive educational opportunities for photography enthusiasts. If you have suggestions for a possible class or workshop, please feel free to contact us.
-Summer Classes and Workshops Continue-
Though we are looking forward to the fall semester, our summer offerings are not over yet.
Intro to iPhoto is coming up this weekend and Intro to Mac is next weekend and Learning DSLR I is on August 22nd. We also rescheduled the dates for the Gum Bichromate workshop by Scott McMahon to August 22nd and 23rd.
If you are interested in the summer offerings, please contact us in order to secure your seat.
-Outreach Program Updates-
In July, we launched our teen outreach program collaborating with Dead Link Removed The students made contact sheets and enlargements in the darkroom and are enjoying the program immensely. We are planning an event to celebrate the students' work and the end of our pilot outreach program next month. You can read the recent posts by volunteer staff on our website.
With generous support from Herman Technology, who runs ILFORD and Kentmere, we were able to stock the film supply for the program. Nonetheless, we are still in need of some more funds to cover the purchase of ten cameras. If you or your business are interested in supporting this ambitious program for teenagers in the North Philadelphia and Kensington areas, please contact us.
This six week pilot program is our latest effort to reach out and connect with our community. While Project Basho provides the framework and infrastructure for the program, it is entirely run by dedicated volunteers. Again, we believe in opening up educational opportunities which empower and enrich individuals. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact us.
-Find Us on Flickr-
We have been adding images of students' work to the events and workshops on our flickr page. This is a great way to share what is going on at the studio and get a sense of the kind of community we have been fostering. You can add us as a contact, and we will do the same!
