ONWARD '10 Web Gallery and Review

ONWARD '10 opened earlier this month and we were happy to meet a number of the participating artists at our opening reception. Many visitors have come by the gallery in the weeks since, including Moore College of Art and Design professor Jonathan Wallis who recently reviewed the show in the Philadelphia City Paper blog Dead Link Removed.

Wallis writes that ONWARD '10 "reveals a churning engine of creativity at work outside of commercial art galleries and other institutional venues, and functions as a single, small piece of evidence that there is a bottleneck between a surplus of artistic production and the very narrow and selective world of those able to gain commercial representation." You can check out the Dead Link Removed on their site.

We are happy to be able to serve the photographic community as an unique venue for experiencing the medium of photography. You can view the show for yourself in our gallery until March 28th or through our ONWARD '10 web gallery.

Dialogue through Lecture Series

We are always looking for ways to foster a dynamic dialogue surrounding photography and in the next few weeks we will present several opportunities to interact with artists visiting Philadelphia.

This weekend, Houston-based photographer Clay Harmon will be at our studio to teach Creating Digital Negatives and will present his work in an informal discussion on Friday, February 26th at 7pm. Harmon uses a hybrid approach that combines historical/alternative processes such as platinum-palladium, gum-palladium, and photogravure printing with advanced digital processing. Please visit his website to see his work.

During Dead Link Removed national conference, Project Basho is pleased to invite photographers Osamu James Nakagawa, Ginger Owen, and June Yong Lee, to present their work and participate in a panel discussion on Thursday, March 4th between 4-6pm.

Admission for each event is $10 for the general public and $5 for Friends of Project Basho.
