Classes Begin in 2 Weeks!

We're only two weeks out from the beginning of our fall semester! We're rolling out several new classes including a 5-week introduction to artificial lighting as well as a night photography course in which students explore Philadelphia after dark.

Our popular class Digital SLR in Practice has also been augmented to include shooting exercises at two exciting locations in the city: the Historic District and Reading Terminal Market/Chinatown. This is a great option if you're looking to benefit from expert instruction while shooting on location.

The summer semester is still not quite over. We're rounding it out with Photoshop: Weekend Crash Course, a fun introduction to the powerful imaging software taught by Karen Kirchhoff on September 17 & 18.

Learn more about the many courses we offer on our classes and workshops page. If you have questions about any of our offerings, we'd love to hear from you. You can speak to a staff member directly at 215.238.0928 or send us an email.

Tell a Friend, Earn $25

Did you know there's an easy way to save $25 (or even more) on your class or workshop registration? Through our Referral Rewards Program, students earn $25 whenever a friend registers and mentions their name.

It's that easy! If you've enjoyed a class at Project Basho spread the word to a friend, family member, or co-worker. If they register and mention your name during registration, you get $25 of credit to be applied towards any later course. Theres no limit to how much credit you can earn and referral rewards never expire.

To learn more about this and other ways to save, visit our Referral Rewards page.

Inviting Photographers Greg Miller and Eli Reed

We've got an extraordinary lineup of events scheduled for the next two months.

Friday, September 30 at 7pm, portrait photographer Greg Miller will be visiting Project Basho to give an artist talk on his varied body of work. Miller is a 2008 John Simon Guggenheim Fellow and will be teaching Portraiture: The Invisible Relationship, a weekend workshop at Project Basho on November 12 & 13. If you're intrigued by the workshop and want to get a feel for Greg's style, the lecture is a great opportunity to meet Greg and hear him speak about his work in person. Admission is $10 for the general public and $5 for students.

We also have plans to host a lecture by renowned documentary photographer Eli Reed on October 28. Reed has been a member of Magnum Photos for almost 30 years and his work has investigated issues of race, class, and poverty in America as well as civil war and social upheaval in Central America, Lebanon, and Zaire. This event is contingent on sufficient enrollment in his workshop, Documentary Photography, on October 29 & 30. Admission is $10 for the general public and $5 for students.

For more information about about these lectures, as well as our free monthly film screenings, visit our events page.

Labor Day Closure

In observance of Labor Day, Project Basho will be closed from Saturday, September 3 – Monday, September 5. We will re-open with regular business hours on Tuesday, September 6.

Have a restful and enjoyable holiday weekend!
