Hi,

i ordered some pyrocat HD and want to do some tests.
With other developers i use a zone I test to find the film speed, and use zone V, VIII to find the approp. development time. I use a colorstar 3000 to measure the density.

What is the best way to test the negs, developed with the pyrocat? I read that it is not possible to use a normal density meter to measure the density of negs produced with pyrocat HD.

Is there a method to find the exact speed/develop time?

thanks.

Willie, you can use your standard zone test procedure with Pyrocat to measure the silver image density (visual channel) and estimate the film speed. To measure the stain image density you will need to use either a color densitometer (blue channel) or a UV densitometer. One hour color labs usually have a suitable densitometer and are willing to make the measurements.
