I have been looking forward to scanning my Printfile 35mm pages to create digital contact sheets. When I try it the imaged area is shorter and narrower than my page. Urggg!! I have tried changing the document size and the anything else that talks about dimensions to no avail. Any ideas??

Sadly most, if not all, Epson scanners can only scan a maximum of 4x6 exposure strips of 35mm film. This parameter is set by the dimensions of the light source in the scanner lid and we just have to wear it. FWIW, using Epson Scan and trying to scan negs mounted other than in the plastic Epson masks can introduce other issues like failure to correctly identify individual frames (probably not important if you just want contact sheets) and sometimes a refusal to even recognise that film is being scanned. Inside a holder adds too much space for 6 strips of 6 frames . . .

Outside of the holder, you can overlap and get more in . . .

You are correct, the size of the scan area is 8 X 10.

Now measure your film. The length of 6 frames is almost 9" and 6 strips high is almost 8 3/4" in the spacing with the film holder so it get's cropped. You can more carefully overlap the perforations.

The Epson V7xx can scan the full platen. Epson Scan works just fine if you set all the controls manually, including frame selection and cropping.

Actually I do 5 neg strips and only shot 35 exp's. I will try the manual mode however I thought I was in manual. So much to learn.
