Problem with Yashica D?

Hi guys, I was just given a Yashica D by my friend. I opened up the back and I'm just wondering if this is a problem... it just looks/feels wrong, but maybe it's not?

The thing is red is what's in question. It's not going straight across (it's slightly slanted), so it just looks odd. It's also loose in that I can move it around a bit. I really know nothing about medium format cameras so I'm just wanting to make sure. Thanks!

Nope. I know it seems odd, but its fine. Load a roll and have fun.

It looks like it is in the film take-up chamber and is used for counting and possibly spacing the frames.
As the film and paper on the take up side get larger this moving piece feels the difference.

My Rolleiflex 2.8F has the same roller: it should be this way, and yes it is for framing-counting and spacing.

Thanks for the quick answers guys! Just wanted to be sure. By the way, I'm new to film, and I'm wanting to know if there's some way to check that the camera is working and I've got it set up properly. I just took 6 pictures, but I wasn't sure that I was doing it totally correctly and I just want to make sure that the camera even works. Is the only way to know if it's really working to have them developed?

Finish the roll. Then hold the camera up to the light with the back open. Cock the shutter and fire it. You should see a flash of light. Work through the shutter speeds; work through the f stops. Truth to tell, there is not much on the Yash D to go wrong.

Or just process the roll. That's what I did, ran a roll through on shots that where not critical and processed the film. The Negs look ok so I am happy both the camera and ( in my case ) the Lightmeter were functioning well enough.
