I've been having a problem with my Nikon FM2
Often the shutter release will not press... as if I have already taken a photo. When I push the film advance lever the shutter seems to open and close.
This doesn't happen every time, for a few shots it will function normally.

Anyone know what's going on?
Your help would be really appreciated.

Sounds like things are gummed up or there is a broken spring or sum such. Best to send it off to a competent repair service. If you post where you are located I'm sure people will chime in with the names of services in your area.

I had one that did the same thing. It's broken and repair would likely cost more than finding another working body.

Then you buy another body with a different problem and is still dirty and gummy.

Get a CLA/repair and have a good dependable camera for years to come.

Garry's Camera Repair in Illinois has done a fair amount of work for me with zero problems. About the cheapest I've found as well with a very reasonable turn-around.

I agree completely with LyleB on this one. FM2s aren't particularly cheap, so you're better off having your's repaired. I too have used Garry's Camera Repair (including an FM2 as a matter of fact) and been pleased.

From other recent posts, the OP seems to be in Toronto. If so, contact Winball Camera Repair--great work, especially on MF Nikons.

I am very disappointed with Winball. They cheat.
