That's about right. It should have some color, but not that much. It darkens with age, but continues to work as expected.

Don't panic Marko, you have a fresh bottle. The flat coke look is achieved by aging.

I have a feeling that the oxidation of rodinal on standing is not the same as oxidation due to development. There are other developers for which perfect clarity is not an absolute guarantee of activity.

A freshly made paraminophenol developer like Rodinal made from fresh paraminophenol should be a clear pinkish tan in color. If the developing agent has darkened due to oxidation then the developer will be dark.

Make sure that you rest the bottle so the cap is tipping down and rotate every month......... Or is that what you do with wine. mmmmmmm never could get that right. Love the blackness of rodinal. 20years ago I use to replenish my main rodinal bottle with new but never used just new rodinal. I liked the aged developer. seemed to be more kind to the image. But then again I'm not sure if I'm drinking the suff or wine.

That's what you do with wine. It keeps the cork wet and prevents it from drying out.

You're not drinking the Rodinal, are you?
