As in...it won't work. The shutter fires just fine normally, but I have tried both of my cables (which work fine on a slew of other SLR's, TLR's & whatnot) and no go. Any ideas?

Did it just break, or has it never worked? Inside the Autocord shutter release button, there is a small cylinder of metal that looks very similar to the business end of your cable release. The tip of the cable release pushes on this, and it in turn pushes on the metal lever that trips the shutter. It sounds like this piece might be missing from your camera. I would try making one from the tip of an old cable release.

Nope -- it isn't broken off. The camera itself seems to be in excellent condition. The release screws into it as it should and with the shutter cocked, pressing the cable release button gets no result. I also noticed that I seem to be able to depress my cable release button further when shooting my Rolleicord, Yashica Mat, Nikon SLR or Olympus SLR's. Makes me wonder if the actuating wire (the tip that protrudes when the button is depressed) may be too large in diameter to trigger the shutter???

For those interested in this dilemma: I took it to a local camera shop & the guy said that it was probably an internal pin that was jammed (similar to what MrPC suggested).
