Using the Adv Black and White settings in the Photoshop CS3 print dialog...I am getting a light gray mask printed over the entire paper. Example: If proofing a 3x5 size, the print looks fine but the entire 81/2 x 11 sheet is masked with a light gray color save 1/8 inch edge border of the paper. I recently upgraded to OS10.5 and CS3 (using the Epson 2400) Something I'm doing or not doing, any ideas?
Would have to buy cartridges by the case lot!

Check the Epson driver, there was a setting to make it do this, but for the life of me I can't remember the exact wording that they used. Something along the lines of "highlight point shift" or something like that. In effect it was to reduce the "speckling" that might be seen in near white areas. So it dropped white down to a very light gray and then the tones were much smoother down to black.

Maybe the driver for 10.5 is broken (wouldn't be the first time for Epson) and the HPS is always on.

Sorry I can't be more specific but I don't have a Mac or one of these printers.

Thanks Greg,
A call to Epson (actually two calls to Epson) resolved the problem. Their service line is awfully good. At one pint they ordered a full replacement... though things resolved after yet-more-help.
Leopard required a patch, I though that may have been bad as you suggested. Onwards
