Better Late Than Never......... i do not look at this section of the forum very often. I am glad i did.
Thank YOU for posting this video.
Horst was amazing, i have a couple of his books with a lot of these color photos. They are INCREDIBLE.!
What an amazing career. Any of the younger members of APUG, that are wanting to be a Professional Photographer, should look at the career of Horst P Horst. This is as good as it gets.

I saw the color work of Horst in February 2016 in NRW Forum, Düsseldorf GER.
I was very impressed - still have the exhibitions catalogue ‚Horst: Photographer of Style‘.

We should not overlook that colour photography printing (autotype, photogravure) at least in Europe back then was the exception, as were printers who could handle such.

One of the books i have, that shows many of these same Color/Fashion photos, says the Print Size was 110cm x 80cm.
As we saw in the video...That is huge.!
I believe the book copyright is 2018.
This guy was incredible.
I am not questioning their talent and ability, but just like Lee Miller and others of that time, these photographers just "seem to" walk up to Conde` Nast, without much experience, and then light the world on fire via, Harpers, Vogue and other print publications of the day.
And the long careers they had....... Amazing.!
Those 8x10 chromes, in the video, are just Stunning.......

Unless my usa math is failing me......that is approximately 30" x 40"

But as said these photos in their majority were not made to be handprinted and hung at walls or as transparency to be viewed on a light table.

I thus think a fair way to look at the them is using the actual medium, the print magazine of those days.
But, what do you guys think of that?

May be ...
But when I saw those color photographs printed in large formats in 110x80 cm (I saw large format slides too) hanging in the NRW Forum Düsseldorf (didn't you ?),
those definitely work as a -large- print (for my old eyes) - far better than in print magazines.
