If i want to print c-41 process B&W negatives using caffenol print developer, do i need to expose it on a color paper or traditional b&w paper will work?
It is said that Ilford C41 negs were designed to print best on trad B&W paper and that Kodak C41 negs were designed to print best on RA4 paper. It may be that we should now include the Fuji C41 B&W film with Ilford's C41 in terms of paper as Ilford now make Fuji C41 B&W film for Fuji.
Has anyone tried printing Fuji C41 B&W negs? If so what does it print best on, RA4 or trad B&W paper?
Not yet but I do have a developed XP2+ film that I will print on trad B&W paper soon. However there are plenty of others on APUG who have printed from Ilford C41 film on B&W paper so I think it is safe to say that it prints well.
Roger Hicks' wife, Frances Schultz, uses XP2+ film almost exclusively and prints on Ilford B&W paper with great results. Try and buy some of Roger and Frances B&W books and see the results yourself. Have a search of APUG and you will see some useful information
"Back in the day", my aunt shot a lot of Kodak B&W C-41 film. She hated developing film, so she shot that so she could have the lab develop. She said she had no problem printing, except maybe she had to go up a grade or two on her Beseler multi grade head (which is now mine).
