Yesterday I had the most wonderful experience to be on pre-press with Michael and Paula here in California. Printing the Brett Weston books and the iceland portfolio. Michael has been making books since 1981 and it shows. they are meticulous for detail and absolute purity of transfer of the image from print to plate. their work is definately worth supporting. if you have never seen any of of the Lodima books you should check them out. I can't guarantee it but I have a strong feeling they will be collectors items.

Thank you very much for your kind words, Peter. It was a pleasure having you join us and watch us do press checks. Now you have at least some idea of what goes on when it is time to do your own book.

Peter, that sounds like a very cool experience! I should (and will) look for their books. And you should think about putting one together, too!

That would be a wonderful day for any lover of photography. Thanks for sharing.

The Dead Link Removed is terrific as well. Not sure when it was updated, but it's a great improvement. It was interesting to read about Brett Weston's switch from large format to medium format. The films available now are such a marvel of engineering that it almost obviates the need for large format.
