Print BW with 3100 K Hot Light and its 3D effect, Is it true ?

I saw an BW image from Rich at the gallery and he tells about printing with Hot Light and its 3D effect ? Is it true ? Do you know any comparison pictures at the web ? Does paper have to be multigrade or single grade ?

I dont see what the difference between an enlarge bulb and this "hot light" is other than color temp. What do you mean by 3d?

Bill,

The difference is the light temperature. 3D is three dimensional look , which lighted and shadowed areas , some border lines , degrades , grains composed to give a more definition on depth of the 2d image.

Bill, my 4000th post goes to you , look at above pictures story and the sky. Clouds looks dramatic and some people says three dimensional , some love it and some hate even talking about this. I dont know why ?

the lights weren't used for printing the images
the photographer says in the description there are 2 images stacked one on top of the other with plexiglass in-between in a LIGHT BOX
there are light sources BEHIND the images. the warmer light ( yellowish ) is behind the clouds.
it is not a printed 3D image, it is stereoscopic because it is stacked with a spacer between the images and lit a certain way...

stereo photographs historically are made 2 ways as described in the stereo website i linked you to in your other post
one is a proprietary printing method and a 4 lensed nimslo camera. it is a faceted image.

the 2nd method, the older method is by having 2 images next to each other. usually they were flopped the right one was on the left &c.
they were put in a viewer ( stereopticon ) and viewed and looked stereo / 3D. you can do this still there are modern stereo viewers / stereopticons

the vue master is the modern example of 3D/stereo images..

and they are not separated + stacked + lit like the one you linked to but 2 images your brain merges into 2 3 dimensional image.

Aha , my english .. Well , do hot light contribute to depth of image ? I understood that but that kind of technical things escapes from my english.

i can't speak for him and how exactly he made them &c
other than what he stated in both the description and
in the comments area of the thread.
it seems ...

the images are stacked and separated so the viewer is looking at 2 sets of images.
the light illuminates ... the hot lights seem to be the light source he has for his project
i am guessing any sort of bright light might work, a compact fluoresent, LED ... its just to back light it ...


with "traditional" 3D stereoscopic photographic images they are not backlit, they are not stacked they are just next to each other
the stereo-opticon / viewer is sort of a magnifier and you see stereo.
