This sale is a continuation of my medical-scare-induced load-lightening effort, which consists mainly in selling many of the heavier lenses I'd accumulated when I'd planned to move to 8x10.

This very clean 300mm f/6.3 Komura Commerical is in an older-style Copal 3S (marked "Copal No. 3") shutter, the kind with non-equal spacing between the full stops. There are no obvious problems with the glass and the exterior is in good condition with only minor marks of usage save for a nick in the rear cell housing - in the photos I aligned the aperture-setting lever with where the nick is. The shutter operates correctly and repeatably although the slow speeds sound a bit slow. It comes with a Rodenstock front cap and a mounting flange, not a two-piece mounting ring set. Also included is a metal Komura lens shade that screws into the 72mm filter threads.

Info about the Komura Commercial line is scant and they don't appear in the one spec document I've ever found online. I'm pretty sure it's a Tessar. As such, the image circle when stopped down should be around 340-350mm, enough to cover 8x10 with a bit of movement.

My asking price of $260 includes insured US shipping and PayPal G&S fees and shipped to your PayPal-verified address. International buyers - I will only ship this insured and will not undervalue on customs forms. You must know that international shipping has gotten crazy expensive, it could well cost $100 to ship to your location.

PS - Fingers not included.

I’ve never been able to find definitive data. This lens is not included in the Komura documents I've been able to find online. The 300mm Schneider Xenar has a flange focal distance spec of 289.5mm and the 300mm Fujinon-L is 280.7mm. The Schneider and the Fujinon are Tessars, like the Komura, so I’d expect the Komura to be in the same ballpark, i.e. 280-290mm.

Edit: The 300mm f/9 Nikkor-M, still another Tessar, has a 290mm flange focal length. I believe the 280-290mm FFL is an innate property of the Tessar, so the Komura should be there too.

Note that the available Komura literature (and there’s not much to be found) lists a 300mm f/6.3 in a Copal 1. That lens is a telephoto and will have less FFL and less coverage than the one I’ve listed here.
