Ilford HP5 Autowinder (72 exp.) film was coated on a special thinner base.
40 or more frames of 35mm film of *standard base thickness* will jam and scratch in a 35mm cassette.
Ask me how I know...
Chris
Aerial film is coated on that same thin base sometimes, and it fits 72 exposures in the can. Currently still shooting the 72 exposure roll I made but very excited to see the results
I have head that a bunch, although I don’t have any half frame cameras…Need this setup for half frame.

There is a dedicated thread for 72 exposure rolls that I made a bit ago, I think it’s probably wise to move further discussion not having to do with the actual sale of these reels there.
If only these fit in standard steel tanks I’d absolutely buy (or trade) for these. The plastic one I have is all well and good but idk how durable that’ll be.
Ilford also made black plastic reels that hold 72 exposure loads and those DID fit in standard steel tanks.
So, buy a Oly Pen and fake it, LOL!Wow, really interesting item! I think tank for 4x5 hanger is suitable. But unfortunately, my EOS camera cannot shoot 72exp
