PRESS RELEASE

November 18, 2010

Digitaltruth Photo Ltd today announces the completion of its acquisition of full ownership of the Massive Dev Chart app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

The Massive Dev Chart app was previously the subject of joint ownership between Digitaltruth Photo Ltd and Martin Man. The Massive Dev Chart app is now wholly owned by Digitaltruth Photo Ltd. Martin Man remains as the leader of the development team.

As a result of the acquisition, the previous version of the app has been removed from the Apple App Store and been replaced with the new version. The new version became active on Nov. 12, 2010.

The Massive Dev Chart app has consistently gained 4+ star reviews for its excellence of design and functionality. The app utilizes data from the Massive Dev Chart database hosted at www.digitaltruth.com in tandem with an advanced multi-step timer specifically tailored for use in film development. The timer is highly customizable and allows users to program all processing sequences and provides audio-visual feedback for agitation.

This is good news. It would be great if you could do a BlackBerry app!

Is there an ability to create custom times for non traditional developers such as caffenol?

This "new version": is it different in substance from the June 2010 version 1.5 I have, or is the new version just updated in terms of ownership? I ask because I have gotten no updates when I check for updates. The Massive Dev Chart app doesn't show up in the App Store when I search for it.

The timer function alone is worth the price.......I'd love a little more flexibility in setting it up as a process timer, though.

Yes. You can have custom times for any film. One warning about the app. You will lost your custom times if you have to restore your phone in Itunes on a Mac. Not so sure about Windows computers. I use it all the time and it's a pretty good app.

The new version is not different in substance, so you can continue to use your old version.

In each update we will include the latest database of development times, and the new info accounts for less than 1% of the total listings. The app is already very mature and full-featured, so its hard to imagine anything else we can add, but we do listen to customer feedback and will improve it wherever possible.

It appears that if you are running v3.2 of the iOS software that the app does not show up. This is because the latest version of the app now requires v4.0 or higher. Older versions of the iOS may display the app, but you will need to upgrade to v4.0 or higher to run it. I'm not completely sure this is the reason, but from what we have been able to test, it appears that version checking is enabled on some devices, such as iPads running v3.2 (v4+ is due soon...)

I'm a little puzzled about the upgrade. It says on the FAQ that for those of us who purchased it before November 2010, are unable to upgrade. In the FAQ it was stated that the appStore system doesn't allow this. However I would like to ask for further clarification on this.

I previously purchased an app called "Twittee" which was a paid app by an independent developer who later sold it to Twitter. The app was then re-released as the official iphone "Twitter" app. However, in this case all of us who have been using Twittee continue to be able to update to the latest version whenever it's released, even though the owner/developer have changed. How is this different from the case of DevChart?

chioque,

Martin Man (the original developer) and myself spent over three months exchanging email and phone calls with Apple in the hope that we could find a way to retain the existing users. Apple's response to us was completely consistent: they told us that ownership transfer is only possible if we stop selling the original app from the developer's account and then begin selling it from our own business account.

If you search the web you will see that almost every other vendor in our position has been told the same thing; however there are some rare cases where people claim to have gained an exception so that existing users and reviews (we lost 2 years of reviews in this process) could be retained. I presume this is what happened with Twittee, but I have no way to verify this. All I can tell you is that after three months of trying, our only option was to comply with Apple's requirements.

A question left unanswered is probably the real answer.

I guess that will be my next project.

Sorry, I didn't mean to ignore you! I thought the FAQ answered this, but possibly not. We are discussing and working on other versions, but at the moment there is no specific plan regarding the Blackberry platform. If you are interested in helping us develop an app for Blackberry, please send me a private message, or email via our web site.
