The shopping area of this site has pull down menus for "delivery area" that include the US and Canada, and also lists shipping costs after you choose your area.

I used a batch of this when he first started promoting it. Worked great but as I was about ready to order, the weather turned frigid up here and everything like that freezes enroute to me. It was also about the time I had gone full "home-brew" but I would heartily promote it to folks who are considering it. Very fine grain with enough edge effect to give some snap. They printed easily and controlled highlights very well, too. I used mine primarily with HP5+, medium format but it behaved very well on a few 35mm things that I did.

As Leon has said, Peter will be able to tell you about USA outlets, I think he has a distributor arranged now.

I use Prescysol EF, and think that like any developer it should be treated with respect. I find that small (5ml) syringes are very useful for measuring the meagre quantities required.

With regard to shelf life I mix the solutions as I need them, and gas the bottles, I also keep the bottles in a gas filled plastic zip-loc bag. I have used this product over a six month period without any sign of deterioration.

I have found it produces easily printable negatives from a mix of films, all at a standard developing time; I cannot now imagine using any other film developer.

I got Peter's newsletter today and thought I'd add this to the thread.

"On the news front, keep watching for the soon-to-be-released 'New Perfectol MS'. This is a tanning/staining developer specially formulated to give more stain, and is designed for those photographers who shoot film and then scan digitally. Scan your neg. in RGB and convert to mono in Photoshop; the extra stain will produce more 'information' during the scan, improving the mid to high values in particular. It's great for analogue printing, too, the stain acting as printing density and producing a fuller palette of tones. It's in the final stages of testing, and should be available shortly.

We're pleased to announce that Photographer's Formulary in America will shortly be stocking and selling our products through North America and Canada."

This is my first post so bear with me!

I'm with Dave Miller on this one. I was a user of Barry Thorntons Di-Xactol ultra up untill his sad death. Loved the stuff and never thought I would find a worthy replacement. I decided to try Peter Hogans Precysol while waiting for him to stock the Di-Xactol.and fell in love with the stuff. I've stuck with it now and left the Di-X alone as the Precysol is much more forgiving and less prone to contamination from other developers on spirals etc.

Just for info, I shoot mainly 120 Delta 100 and 400, and the odd roll of 35mm of the same and develop as per the insructions for them all. 10.5 mins with the partial stand method.

lovely negs, lovely stuff and love the smell.

Try it and good luck. You will love it.

All the questions except "Are there any United States outlets?" Would be normally be answered by the Manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet. (MSDS) I looked on Mr Hogans's site and did a web search but could not find a MSDS for Prescysol. As a consequence, I have no interest in purchasing the product. Mr. Hogan's description of the results he obtains by using his product (i.e. stain color, etc.) is consistent with with those obtained with Pyrocatechol based developers. Sandy King's Pyrocat-HD is a developer of this type. Of course, what Sandy supplied was better than an MSDS - he published the exact and entire formula in the open literature.

Hi Mac, sorry for a delayed reply; just got back from a trip to Scotland... My products, (and Barry Thornton's) will shortly be available from Photographer's Formulary in America. They will be supplying USA and Canada, but you will need to contact them directly to find out exactly when they will be ready to supply. (MSDS sheets will be available from them for USA/Canadian customers!) I am fully aware of the onerous postal charges from the UK, and this route seemed the best way of solving the problem.... Thank you to everyone for their positive comments; we have had a fantastic year and intend to be around for a long time... We love to hear your comments and suggestions, and any ideas for new products are always welcome.
I will be visiting with Bud at PF during June, and would love to meet anyone who lives locally, or is attending Les McLean's workshop there.

Peter, it appears from your price list that you are selling both Prescysol and Prescysol "EF". Since you market "EF" as the improved version of Prescysol, is there any reason to prefer the original over the "EF" version?

While putting an order together at Photographers' Formulary, I noticed that they are now listing Peter's Prescysol and also some Thornton items. I hadn't noticed this being posted in here yet but apologize if it's old news....
