Premier/doran safelight

I noticed that someone commented on the bh website that the quality of the doran safelight is not good, and the screw position is not convenient for assembly. I saw the safelight produced by premier in freestylephoto, but the appearance is the same as that of doran. I think they have the same build quality, right?

Is looking for a vintage premier safelight a better choice? I live in Australia and I just don’t want to spend expensive postage on repeat purchases to compare which one is better.

I've had an old Premier 5x7 red safelight for many years and no issues. I liked it so much I bought a new Premier 10x12 model and it's just as good. I think it safe to say I would buy another 5x7 if needed. I wouldn't buy the one on eBay, the seller is pushing the body color and ignoring what is important, the filter color. You don't know if it's OA or OC. I've been using dark red since the early 60's. I use a good bit of ortho material that requires it, there are some papers that require red as well.

Can you let me know your light is metal body with black plastic filter cover? like freestyle one?

Mine are metal bodies with dark red glass filters.

I have three and have used for years without any issues. The lens are interchangeable and you can get different ones depending on your needs.

Same here. I have 'vintage' ones and new ones and they are basically identical - same materials (metal body, etc.) and build quality.

I bought new red filters for the older safelights (I bought the lights used). The new ones came with a red filter.
