In the world of scarce collectible cameras it just doesn't get much more scarce. An estimated 1,500 of these were made before World War II and who knows how many have survived? I sure don't.
An Exakta 66, super rare, in presentable condition. Lens is an 80mm Zeiss Tessar. If you collect Exakta it is highly unlikely you will ever even see one of these for sale.
HOWEVER, Camera does not work. You can advance, and the shutter is all there, but it is monumentally stiff, the metal band on one of the shutter curtains is bent. I am not a repairman so how much freer things would work if it were cleaned and re-lubed, I dunno. At some time in the past I suspect the film metering system in it quit working and someone just added a red window in the middle of the back to use the paper backing. There's also an extra knob on the bottom of the camera that releases the advance trigger to go back to its start.
Lens is not bad -- a bit hazy, chrome is worn with some brassing. Mirror is a bit hazy but usable.
Asking $950, mostly because of the worn condition of the camera, its iffy insides. If you look around you'll see this is the low side of reported sales, of which there are few. This includes careful shipping anywhere in the USA. Overseas will be extra and at your risk.
Interested? DM me. I can take paypal. As always, if you live in Utah, you can take personal delivery in Ogden and I'll buy the first beer.
