will be heading there in a few weeks, also stopping in Brno and Salzburg. I was wondering what the light levels will be like in mid November? or, what speed film should i bring. was going to bring my contax G and Mamiya 6 as they are my favorite travel cameras. so need B&W and slide film ideas. I have pretty much all of the current emulsions to pick from. was thinking tmx 400 both in 35mm and 120 as well as across, also in 35mm and 120 and RR400/superpan for 35mm. thinking hr-50 with a yellow filter would just be too slow. slide film, im gonna bring some provia 400x in 120 (dont have any in 35mm). prefer to use 220 film, so I have a stash of velvia 50, 100 and astia to use as well as in 120 and provia. for 35mm, E100, provia and velvia 50. I have neg film but really prefer slide film, but if the lighting is harsh contrasty light, then maybe portra 400/superia 400/ektar would work as well. My enlargers and buried in the garage so would be scanning as well as the old school slide show very once in a while.

I ask because I have never really traveled in any parts of Europe/overseas.

thanks

Expect constant overcast, meaning light won't help and you'll mostly get low contrast scenes. I'd go with 400 as minimum.

As rd said..... 400 Tri-X, Tmax.....even where there's bright light, you need enough exposure for detail in shadows....without compromising your depth of field.

Plus one on 400 My go to has been Ilford Delta 400 120 I don’t use color but travel with two cameras one with a wide or normal lens and one with a longer lens both with the same film. That way no confusion with my light meter.
Prague, Vienna and Salzburg great places for photography If you’re driving there are plenty of places between. I recommend plenty of film and not too much equipment. A day pack that can hold what you need for a day and leave the rest in the room. Since you will be walking around most likely you don’t want to be weighed down. Enjoy 👍

Take a mini-tripod one that is 24cc tall it is very use full !! ----the morning light is special ...for outdoors.
Streets are narrow {no light} winter low sun angle!!

Where ever possible have your film hand checked at the airports don’t trust the X-ray since some may have switched to ct scanning

Definitely. Especially in november.

Of course, it depends on what @destroya would want to photograph. Personally, I just walk the city and snap whatever I find pleasing, regardless of time of day. Which means I prefer fast film.
thats what i do when i travel. I burn thru a lot of film just wandering the streets looking for great shapes and contrast scenes, especially with B&W. Loved Venice for that (as well s not having to worry about crazy cars). gonna stick with 400 speed and maybe push it to 800 as needed. still gonna bring some provia, hoping for enough light. found some lost neopan 400 in 35mm which ill add to tmax 400 and tri-x for B&W.
Thanks for everyone's input. Looking forward to the development marathon when I get back!
