I don't have any room to experiment here. I have 1/2 gallon of gold toner, but I need 1 gallon and it needs to be strong, so dilution is out.
The 1/2 gallon was made with K+ thiocyanate. I have enough gold to make another 1/2 gallon, but no K+ thiocyanate.
I do have plenty of NH4+ thiocyanate, which is used in other gold toner formulas.
Question: does anybody see a problem with combining these toners? It appears to me that one cation would be as good as another.
What say y'all? Thanks up front for any wisdom on this topic, and I will check back tonight.
