All,

finally a couple of comments from my side - past few weeks and months were quite busy.

aluk shows (in typical square format) two men discussing - maybe last night's soccer results ? Who knows - but they seem quite engaged in the discussion which makes me curious. Howard Earl shows a factory with letters larger than cars - the latter look really like toys compared to the building. tezzasmall has an interesting perspective which draws me into the darkness. But wait - maybe there is a stranger waiting behind one of the arches ? Thanks god its just a photo. iandvaag used a lot of contrast to create tension between nature and artifacts. MattKing shows a shoreline in winter time. The reflections on the water are great, my kids ask me which way is up. The nicely bent shoreline takes me into the photo and has a good contrast with the straight, simple tree trunks. Laurent shows typical mediterranean building style. An invitation to spend a few days of vacation in southern France, maybe. mike c has an interesting composition of horizontal and vertical lines. Himself appearing blurred in the photo makes it even more interesting. Oxleyroad's Waterfalls make me want to climb down and take a cool bath on a hot summer day. BlackDog shows what is maybe a family trip to the beach - maybe two sisters, grandpa and grandchild discussing what they found ? mooseontheloose has a great composition on her Selfie Check - a traditionally dressed woman framed by typical Japanese architecture. gijsbert's card looks like a typical autumn scene. Trees lost their foliage, birds are heading south, but blue skies with just a few clouds. Makes me want to take a long, relaxing walk along the stream. Finally, drpsilver spent some extra effort to print a fallen tree as a cyanotype. Remembering that wood is the base material of the print somehow reminds me of a circle of life.

I enjoyed this round of exchange again very much, thanks to everyone sending a card to me. I received a couple more cards, I think, but since they lack a reference to exchange #44 they got mixed up with other rounds in the chaos of my desk. Please remember to note the round # on the back

Also thanks a lot for the nice comments on the cards I sent - glad you like them !

Regards,
Lars

I received the "Waterfalls" by Oxleyroad.
Well, it's great to get a print of the Mick "Crocodile" Dundee territory. It was my favourite movie in the childhood:smile:
Nice contrast and details, interesting place. Thanks!

bedford, received your second card for this run, same as the first one the post office decorated . They are both very good and can not decide which one is a better Irish cottage by the sea.

I just received awty's card, which I believe is for this round - a wonderfully moody image a swimmer surrounded by nothing but water. I like it a lot. I know I have a lot more cards to comment on for this round, but I'll have to get myself sorted before I can do that.

Thanks Lars, it was indeed a family rockpooling trip to the beach. The light was fading a bit, as it was late afternoon in December. However I'm quite pleased with the pictures I achieved!

I just wanted to say that I have not forgotten this, but it has been busy at work for a while and no time for the darkroom. I'll come around though, over the christmas vacation if not earlier.
Thanks for all the loverly cards I have received.

+1 I thought I could get some work done in the darkroom before the holidays, but it’s not looking good. I’ll definitely be printing my cards during the break though!

Hiya,

Here's a few more that I've received and not yet commented on (apologies):

LarsAC – Pittsburgh Westend Overlook - Incredible perspective, the trees in the foreground make this feel like a perfect postcard image! Very well done.
Howard Earl – Success Rice – The letters look quite neat with the distorted topology of the building.
Laurent – I like how the shadows of trees on the wall and garage match with the leafy tree tops behind the wall and building. Great job at filling the space, as others have commented.
Oxleyroad - “Waterfalls” - Wow, so much detail! I really love the tree-top at the bottom of the image, it emphasizes the shape of the pool of water nicely.
mike c – I got extra value from you this round, Mike! Two cards! The simple “layers” with strong horizontal elements in this card make for a very nice image (e.g. the curb, sidewalk, fence, grass patches, waves and horizon.)
MattKing - “February Reflected” - The strong shape and line elements are nicely accentuated by the direction of the light relative to the camera. I think this looks really nice printed full bleed.
Black Dog - “The Rockpoolers” - I love the focal point of the inquisitive young hand investigating the object presented by the man.

Thanks all!

Thank you everyone, for your tremendous patience! Finally, tomorrow I will post my cards for round 44. As I could not pick which one to send, I have printed three different takes on the same scene, a few of each, from a night in Kyiv four years ago.
best regards

I have not yet thanked for these cards...
Waterfalls, by Oxleyroad. A landscape with great depth and nicely caught waterfalls.
February reflected, by Matt King. This is a favourite, very well rendered winter mood. So this is what bleach does to a photo?!
Lychnis, by Ian Andvaag. The flowers, almost in silhouette, against the rectangular stones with paint falling off. There is so much going on here, and it works very well. Thanks!
Success Rice, by Howard Simmons. A shot that made me think about Bernd and Hilla Becher.
A street scene from Marsielle, by Laurent. Nice how the telephone lines make a network in the sky!
A shot from Pittsburgh, by Lars. Thanks Lars! I was there last summer to visit my brother, and I kayaked under those bridges with my niece.
A selfie by Mike Clark. Humorous photo, that shows that the unintended can work very well!

I was happy to receive one of these, interesting scene with lots of movement rendered by the fuzziness of all the people. Thanks !

Also received the card from Erik. Nice and rather unusual capture, thank you!
At first glance I thought it was shot during a Maidan events of early 2014, but with a closer look the relaxed poses of people and atmosphere of the place make me think of a nightclub party.

Thanks! Yes, it is from a nightclub. I was in Kyiv late in 2014, not in the beginning of the year, so I was not a witness to Maidan.

Erik Petersson – Kyiv 2014 – It’s a treat to receive a special little print like this. I love the smaller size for the subject matter. The full frame borders and slight bottom weighting are great. I really enjoy this print, thanks!

I too got my print and I love the smallness of it! It has a painterly quality that I quite like. Thanks!
