I've recently seen Spirited Away on British TV, even though I have a dvd copy of my own. The first time I saw it, it was in Japanese, with English subtitles, but still very enjoyable. Then I saw it on DVD and then tv, with both times it has been very well dubbed into the English language. A great little film kraker = well worth seeing!

I think I first saw it only in Japanese, because here in Japan animated DVDs don’t come with English subtitles or dubbing. But of course I have my own copy now. Another influence for the film is Jiufen, a town near Taipei. The next time I get a chance to visit Taiwan, I definitely want to go there as it looks like an interesting place to photograph.

rpavich - Gives a new meaning to “the Christmas duck”! I wonder what are they singing?
“River Rouge” - Oxleyroad – I really like the semi-matte surface, it suits the scene.
“Enjoying the Winter sunshine” - Black Dog – Everything feels very well balanced. I like the reflections off the wet sand.
“Propeller” - Howard Earl - The bricks in the background give an impressive sense of scale.
Laurent – I really love the subtle motion blur on the subject.
Erik Petersson – The unconventional borders, unsharpness and facial expression – I keep coming back to this one.
“La Casa de Lupe” - David Dorcich – Lupe’s home seems like a nice place to visit
“Raven” - Gijsbert – I really like how there are two separate scenes – the silhouetted foreground and the sports pitch background. Really great subject separation (it doesn’t occlude the background), while integrating into the photo.
LarsAC – Wow, that is quite a tree! Very nice bright lighting.
tezzasmall - Really nice “spot” lighting -- brings out fantastic texture.
graciemansion - I’m fond of the framing on this one.
“Jeepers, Peepers” - Matt King – Perfect depth of field, with the near light completely sharp and the focus falling off beyond that. It feels very immersive for a 5 x 7.
“Uniquely Bolinas” - drpsilver – Great print with lots of texture. I particularly like the black edge on the sign, it really adds 3-dimensionality to the scene.
“Honesty Box” - kraker – Very cute photo. If you say a four-letter word, do you have to put in a quarter?
“Dirty Wheel” - mike c – Nicely printed; a great range of tones.
“Dogo Onsen at Night” - mooseontheloose - I always look forward to your postcards, and this is one of my favourites this round. The perfectly curved light streaks and large borders frame the view nicely. I like the contrast between the old and the new.

Found two cards today while shuffling through the paper Jungle called my disk, Laurent's card of a Classy hotel, must be in France or such with well groomed trees and water pounds in front, taken from a nice angle.
Erik P. has done a nice job with a pretty young girl hesitating removing some head phones, really soft focus affect and love that hair light, very nice.

Victory! I found the missing card from Erik Petersson while going through various stacks of paper jungle, as mike c so aptly named it. Dreamy, soft, a bit of movement in the hands, the light on the hair... Really nice, glad I found it!

The lighted swoop of “Dogo Onsen at Night” is great - it and the point of view create an amazing presence.

mooseontheloose's Dogo Onsen at night, very interesting view of the architecture, with the blurred cars adding some dimension to the image.

Wow, that took a while.
I moved a year ago. Everything was in storage and needed to be found and cleaned up.
I made a darkroom out of canvas, bought some film, went to a biker rally. Eventually processed the film, couldn't find the contact printer, found some glass, couldn't get the enlarger to work, had to rebuild it, then was ready to print.
Couldn't find the printing easel, looked in every box and came up with one.
Started printing last night. I made about 5 prints of a couple shots and am getting them ready to send.
This weekend I'll print some more and finish up.
Some are going in the mail today.

Still working my way through a stack of contacts and making 4-5 prints of anything I like.
I'm sending out a few more images today, including a portrait from a Demolition Derby in my town, the Good Friday Procession in Little Italy, and people in the que to see David.

Received Rob's Biker Santa today, nicely composed , the post office even got involved by adding a scar and stitches with a ball point pen, gave Santa some extra character.

I found a couple more cards tucked inside a magazine:
Gijsbert's Raven-I love Fukase's work and was fortunate to see original prints by him at the Michael Hoppen Gallery in London a couple of years ago . Quite dark as you say but powerful. Loved the balance of shadows and light in your picture.
Air Spirit by Darin-A subtly minimal image which gradually draws you in.

I got Rob Skeoch's wonderful card last week. This print looks incredibly rich: tack sharp and the appropriate contrast. Great choice of aperture and angle of shooting: the winch of the tow truck is perfectly defocused as to be easily identifiable while giving good separation to the subject. Many thanks!

I am so behind in my commenting - both this round and round #44.
If my notes are correct, so far I have acknowledged and commented upon nine great cards from this round, but I have received several more.
