It seems May is well underway and it's time for a new postcard round! Sign up now, don't be late!

May: sign-on
June, July: print and mail
August: breather

OK, now the standard text, but please read on:

As in the previous rounds, please signup by starting a conversation with me (used to be called PM) containing your full name, address (including the country - this is an international exchange) and the number of cards you are able to send or say maximum for the maximum possible number of cards. You can also choose "ALL" you will still only receive the MAX number of cards but you will receive the complete list so you can share your work with everyone if you choose.

As in the previous rounds, if you have been in the exchange for the last couple rounds and if your address is the same, you can sign on just with giving the number of cards here in the thread. No PM needed in this case.

Important! As in the previous rounds I will post lists of participants in this thread every once in a while. If you signed in (or if you think so) please come back to this thread and check if your name is on the list. If the name should be on the list but is not, then let me know. Once the address lists are sent out early in October I can not do any changes. And also check for the number of cards behind your name.

There are a couple threads with an introduction and FAQs (check the links in my sig). Just send me a PM or ask here if you have any questions.

Please read on:

As in the previous rounds, not all participants have been able to send out the cards. For whatever reasons, if you have not fulfilled your last rounds commitment, send your cards before you sign in for this round. Just be fair. (and drop a note in the last round comments to let us know you are okay)

And as in the previous rounds, I am looking forward to this round.

Now for those new to the postcard exchange, here is how it all works out.

First: It is fun!

Second: When registration is over, I will prepare address lists which I will send to the participants. You will have to send a card to every address on that list and you should receive back a card from everyone on that list. So if you join in for e.g. 20 cards you will have to send 20 cards and you should receive 20 cards back.

Third: Did I mention that it is fun? Where else can you receive cards from all over the world, different styles, different methods, different papers!

Okay, it was a bit expensive for just sending postcards abroad and I only got four postcards back in return from the eight that I sent out and for most of them I don't know if they all arrived as most people don't seem to say one way or the other and it would be great to have one place where all of them could be viewed... phew, all in one breath! :D

But despite all of this, put me down for SIX again as I loved the four postcards that I did get. :D

I'm a long-time participant of this exchange (25 rounds or more I think) who had to sit round 40 out because I'm still delinquent on round 39, but I can say that the fewer cards you choose to send in any round means you are much more vulnerable to the late (or fallen off the map) senders. I might get 45/50 cards in one round (which I would consider a success, as I've NEVER had a 100% return rate), but if you only had 6, and you happened to have the 5 of those people who didn't send cards, it won't seem like a successful round to you. That said, it's much better to send fewer cards, than none at all.

Oh, and +1 to what Matt said. Sometimes cards come in months (or even years) after the fact.

Anyway, I'm not signing up yet, but I hope (finally!!!!) to have my cards done this week so I can, because I miss the exchange a lot.

I cannot speak for Terry S, but IMHO maybe the thing is more about the doubts whether the postcards sent arrive at destiny or not, than on the ones we have to receive, at least that's the feeling I wanted to express, if I have to choose, I prefer not to receive any postcard, but knowing that all mine do, clear conscience I suppose.

Actually LAG, I meant to address that too. Like you, I like to hear that my cards got to their final destinations - otherwise I'm not sure if they actually got there. However, I've noticed that people tend to reply a lot more at the beginning stages of a round, and may or may not do it in the later stages (or, if someone is really late :whistling:). And sometimes life gets in the way. I have a bunch of cards to comment on, but, to make a long story short, the cards are scattered at the moment, and I want to wait until I make sure I have all of them to comment on them properly.

If it makes you feel any better, the Round #40 card I sent to myself didn't even arrive! I've done that for the last several rounds, but this is the first time it hasn't got back to me.

Understood, let's say that those are the rules of the game. (Matt, you youself do not forget to confirm to yourself when your postcard arrives)

Thank you both!
